Question whats wrong

ok i just finished looking at a new system for my truck and when i turned on my truck my rpm. and mph. went all the way to the right. what is it.

it was going on for a few days until now. i just got my truck washed and when i was going to take off it made a clicking noise ans wouldnt start. i think its the battery. or is it the alternater. well i bought a new battery cuz took my old one to auto zone and they told me it was bad,but maybe they are saying that so i can buy a new one.

well thanks for taking time to read this. let me know what you think. thanks

When your gauges go all the way to the right and back agian its your computer resetting it self, happens if you disconect the battery or if it goes dead. That clicking noise you heard was your starter, it wasn't getting enough power from the battery to turn the truck over. Are you still having the problems with you truck not starting

A bad alternator can kill a battery, so check out the alternator before you kill another battery.

Check the voltage across the battery with the engine off and running. Off should be 11.5-12.5 volts and on should be 13.8-14.5v. If the voltage is the same, replace the alternator.
