I lost a lot of windshields driving through NM and TX over the years, so I feel your pain. I learned real quick my best option was Autolite since they offered factory seconds windshields in NM installed for under $200. The seconds windshields may have a tiny little blemish along the edge, but I never cared considering the price. In most states, insurance companies don't replace windshields for free, near free and/or the installer won't cover a $500 deductable.

As far as the ticket goes... you were speeding. Pay Up. In over 30 years of driving, I've never been pulled over. Learn to drive "casual"... they'll leave you alone.
