Will drywall fit in the back of a 5.5' bed?

Used to do this with a 6.5' bed angled off the closed tailgate... does that work with the 5.5' bed?

Drywall in a 5.5' bed

I've had no problems with drywall in the bed. With the gate down it's pretty near 7.5' and supports the drywall. Hauled some 12' sheets - just put some 2x4's under them to extend the bed support a bit further out.

I have a pic in my gallery of my '01 hauling 4 x 8 sheets of plywood and such - no problems here. I haven't posted much lately, so I can't remember how to add the picture to the thread, but if you look, it's in there.

The truck in that pic isn't sagging at all.
Most of the load appears to be foam insulation.

Remember that 8' drywall weighs about 70 lbs per sheet.

Oh yeah, it was a light load. I've had it stacked that high with plywood/lumber, and it does sag then. At 70 lbs/sheet for drywall, in 15 sheets you're just over 1000 lbs. You're probably not going to want to fill it with drywall as high as the picture.
