Need Advise - New To The F-150
Hi everyone.
I just purchased a 03 f-150,supercab,4X4. It has the 4.6 engine.
Some of my questions are: Where are the spark plugs?
Where is the fuel shutoff switch?
What kind of gas milage should i expect?
And any info that might pertain to the 03 model.
Also, where can i find a service manual?
Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the site. I'm not sure if your truck has a fuel cut off. You can probably buy a manual at Advance Auto, Auto Zone, etc. pretty inexpensively. Milage varies greatly depending on driving habits.
right side near the pass door under the dash, flue shut off is thier...On the 5.4 a coil pack sit's on top of the plug directly in the valve cover, I think the 4.6 will be the same, 4 per side..
Locating the spark plugs on the 4.6L can be a pain. Best thing to do is look for the wires/coil packs. The plugs are located towards the top of the engine with 4 on each side. They are buried deep in the block and you'll need a long extension on your socket to get down to them.
The fuel shut off is located on the passenger side behind the panel between the glove box and the door jam (on the floor). That's where its been located on all my Ford trucks, but yours could be different (you never know).
You can get a Haynes service manual for about $12-14 at Autozone.
Gas mileage? The 4.6L I had got about 13-14 city and 18-19 highway. For best performance, I ended up using mid-grade gas. At times I got exceptional mileage on the highway (over 20 MPG). It's a good, reliable engine though a tad under powered for a Super Crew.
