Gay Tail Lights
Gay Tail Lights
When I was looking for a truck to purchase, I found the greatest looking F-150 SuperCrew. It was a black 2001 XLT 4x4. It was in great condition, and for a kid's 16th birthday it would have been perfect. But... I never chose that one.
The reason? Gay tail lights. What was Ford thinking when thy took such a beautiful vehicle and put tail lights on the back that ruined the whole truck?? Does anyone else think the tail lights look too round and stupid? Thank God the '05 and up models have the same tail lights as the Regular an Super Cabs. Maybe I overreacted, but I can't stand 'em.
In the end, I'm glad I didn't buy that truck beause I found my '00 SuperCab Lariat. But come on, hose are pretty ugly...one of the few major design flaws Ford has ever made.

I agree, I personnaly think that that series of truck looked a little "girly" to me. Almost all the people around here that has them are women and People from south of the border, they all have a big picture of the big Kahina in the back window too.
I kept on driving my 91 until a more aggresive body style came out because of that reason.

I wouldnt go as far as to call them Gay looking as that might offend many owners that actually own that model. I will admit it was not strong look but I am guessing they didnt want the rear to look too narrow so they put those bubble out lights on it.
Stepside trucks never grew on me.

Sorry guys, I have to disagree (not with the tail lights, but the "girly" reference). That is one thing I liked about this model is that is was sporty and not so "utility" looking. Same reason why I have not warmed up to the new model due to it looking like a big box with all of the sharp corners. Really disappointed that they waited til the new model to put such a nice interior.
As far as the tail lights, they never really stood out as being out of place.
Now if you want to talk about fugly tail lights, check out a new Tundra step-side. Looks like they had some leftover Camry tails and somehow worked them in!!

It was the tails that first attracted me to my 01 screw. And I liked the L tails so much I put those on. And I'm not Gay...you can call and ask my wife. (remember "Uneasy Rider" by Charlie Daniels?)
Heh, no. I didn't mean the owners of trucks with those tail lights are gay, I just think they look kind of crappy. And I never have cared for stepsides too much either, but I suppose those tail lights do fit those models.
And Oh God are the Tundra lights friggin' ugly. I'm glad you brought that up, because right after I made this thread I saw a new Tundra and realized I should have mentioned those...ugh, terribly...well...um, disgusting.
Like I said, I suppose I was being too negative and overly critical of the SuperCrew tail lights. I guess it's just a personal opinion, but I know I would have drooled over the SuperCrews if they had the same lights as the others like the '05 and ups do.
And if you do own a SuperCrew with the bubbly tail lights, it certainly does not mean you are gay, but if you own a Toyota Tundra with those tail lights, well....

no way, man, i love my tail lights i think its a nice touch for the screw's before 04, i was actually dissapointed that they put regular on the new ones, anyways its all about opinions, call it gay or w/e you want, im happy with my truck and thats all that matters to me, later
Well, I was thinking that the Ford Expedition tail lights would look nice on the SuperCrews, Lightnings, and stepsides. I'm talking about, say, a 2000-2001 Expedition or something. Know which ones I mean? I would try to provide a picture but I'm stuck on dial-up.

I didn't like the tail lights when I first bought my truck, but they've really grown on me. My only complaint now is that the tail light design shortens the bed opening. It's a PITA to get my Banshee in the back.

I would like to know why they haven't gone LED across the board. They are sooooo bright compared to conventionals. Even my old Intrepid had such bright taillights that they beamed almost pink when the brake was applied. I've never seen brighter ones. Sorry for the derailment... JMO.
