Horn #5

I just installed horn set #5 on my 2001 Supercrew. They work for a while, then sound like someone strangling a cat, then nothing. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a better idea (horn)?

thanks

you're not alone

I'm on my 3rd horn, luckily this time it has lasted more than 4000 miles. When I first bought the truck I had two in a row crap out on me, sounded like a "meeeep" instead of a "GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY BLAAAAAAAAHH!"

Anyone else have this problem?

Im on my original horn, but my horn doesnt work. How much do they cost and where are you getting them from?

Also are you getting water in your horns like me or they just going bad?

Mine were both covered under warranty. The first time it sounded like a rock or something was in there, the second time I think it could have been water from a heavy rainstorm (driving in the big puddles). After it dryed out it didn't work. So ford again replaced it.

dead horns

When I put set #3 on, I cut them open. Rust everywhere. Same with set #4. I don't get horn deep in water, but it must get in there somehow. I have a set of air horns mounted below the regular horns, but they always work. They are too loud to use for everyday honking, so I need the factory ones to work.

I have tried horns from Autozone, O'Reilly's, Advance, Ford and the local salvage yard. About 9 to 15 per horn.

Maybe this winter I will re-locate them to a higher spot.

BEEP, Beep, beep, be.....

Oh no, not again

I created this post when I had to put horn set #5 on on Oct 7th. Here is it Dec 6th and set number 6 just went on. #5 was full of water just like the others.

I do not drive in deep water (just rain). I have not even been the mud since the last set went on (too busy).

Is this Casper the horn-hateing ghost?

Geez man what are you doing to your horns? Just kidding...

I think ford's horns have something to be desired with so many people having to replace them all the time.

On a side topic, and not to start off-topic chatter, but I hooked back up my disabled cruise control tonight after getting another card from ford saying I have to wait until next feb/march.

SCREW THAT! Haha, hey there's some intended PUN there.
