It's in the manual. Look under spare tire. This key plug is there to prevent someone from making off with your spare.

NEVER EVER leave this key lock thingy on the bumper. There is not enough clearance with the tailgate down so you could leave a large dent if you put the tailgate down when changing a tire.

Huh?

You talking about the lock that you remove when you utilize the key to get the spare on the bumper?

He's talking about setting the lock on the top of the bumper either left or right of the license plate recess. Set that sucker up there and forget about it. Open the tailgate to throw in the flat and you've just made your day go from bad to worst.

Comprende kimo saaby?

Been there done that, sort of. When I was putting on my soft tonneau I had the little package of allen wrenches out so I could tighten the brackets to the bed sides. Laid the package of wrenches I wasn't using on the bumper and then not thinking about it I lowered the tailgate. Whoalah! Nice little indent in the tailgate. It's hardly noticeable actually, but it's there. I didn't even notice it at first until my buddy asked me how I got the dent in my tailgate? I said what? Yeah right here he says. I about crapped. Then I thought about it and figured out how it got there. Nobody to blame but myself. He's a body man so he notices stuff like that. Nobody else has ever noticed. I am not planning on fixing it, it's been there for almost two years and he's the only one who's ever noticed it. but a good heads up for all you F150 bro's out there.
