strange noise

I have a 2001 SuperCrew 4x4, and have been noticing a strange noise lately. The noise is a clunking sound coming from the driver side rear door area. I can only hear the noise when it is raining out, and when I am above 50 MPH. From what I can tell it gets louder with increased speed. I have already checked the door seals, and everything looks good. If there are any ideas, let me know.

Is it a steady drumbeat *clunk* or is it more random?

First, do the obvious, check under the truck for something that’s loose, check the back seat area and temporarily remove anything that could possibly make a noise. Do some test drives with someone in the back seat listening for you.

I’m puzzled as to why it only *clunks* when it’s raining.

Good luck and keep us posted with any progress you make

I already did the check inside the truck, nothing loose. I even had the girlfriend crawl in the back, and listen. All she could do was verify that it was coming from the rear drivers door area. I will have to look under the truck. The biggest thing that is puzzling me, is the fact that it only happens in the rain. By the way, it is a rythmatic clunking sound. As you speed up, it gets louder and more frequent.
