Part# 2005 S/c Hitch Electric Connector
Part# 2005 S/c Hitch Electric Connector
Some idiot ran into the back of my 2005S/C FX4 today. Thank goodness I was only doing abt 10MPH. He was still accelerating when he impacted the rear of my truck. He was driving a small Pontiac. Destroyed his hood, grill and Bumper cover. All it did to the truck is, crush the electrical connector for the hitch.
I was wondering if anyone could help me locate a replacement part number and the price for the connector. It's the round connector that comes installed with the tow package. Thank You!! My wife was sitting next to me and didn't even know the guy hit me. Ford Tough
This is a 7-way RV receptacle and should be available at most auto parts, RV/Camper and Trailer shops in your area. Unless you want to go back with a factory piece. The benefit of going factory in this case is that all you would have to do is unplug the old one and plug in the new; follow the harness from the receptacle back along the frame and you should find a connector in the wiring harness. Should you elect to install an OTC, you will have to do either/and some splicing/soldering of the individual wires. And please, please do your self a favor; Never use those crimp on wire taps. These may hold up under the dash, but I've helped many a friend with "trailer light problems" by removing these taps and using the old tried and true method of skinning, wrapping, soldering, taping and finally heat shrinking and under hood/chassis slices. Good luck.
