Cold

Hey i just got my 01 Supercrew and i was driving back from Houston and when i had the air control set to Panel it felt like it was using the AC. When i hit arizona the temp was about 80 but the air coming from the vents was like 60 i don't know if its using the AC or what. I don't want to be wastin unessecary gas. Has anyone else had this "problem"?

I see it at times on my 02.
If you hear the compressor clutch operating on and off in this position, then is's a good bet the A/C is on.
Why, I don't know yet until I investigete it.
My controls are manuel.

same thing here... when I have it on vent and floor combo, it's as cold as when I have it on AC vent.
when you switch it to floor only, then it's outside temp.
What gives?

Well I got back from phoenix and it seemed to warm up, then it started to get cold again. It seems to be going in cycles. Its really a hassle when its 72 degrees outside and i just want the vents b/c the AC is too much.

In my old truck, which was an '01 supercab, the ac wasnt working that well in my truck. I took it to the dealership and they found that it was a bad seal, about 5 bucks if that, although labor was more. It turned out to be something simple and I was glad and after that it worked just like it was suppose to. Good luck.

Panel/floor

All the trucks do this. I don't know why Ford does this buts it's normal.
I guess they're trying to keep a/c seals new by keeping a/c compressor
running as much as possible.

the ac unit does run in every setting except floor and defrost. It is cooling the outside air but not at full operation....more or less just taking the humidity out of the air.

I love this ....means i dont have to actually run it on AC or MAX AC...their by saving gas.

i take it you guys don't have the climate control. too bad , it sures is nice just set it and it stays at that temp no matter what it does outside my wife's T-Bird also has the climate control, i don't think i would buy another vehicle without it.

Well sgauthier....thanks for pointing out that some of us can't afford the "auto climate control".......oops my new Lariat has it too :o :o

I'm with ya - it is one nice option and once you've had it it is hard to do without! Although, I must admit this new F-150 AC doesn't seem to get as cold as it should - not nearly as cold as my '05 Stang - probably will end up having it checked under warranty.
