C/c Recall & Horn!
C/c Recall & Horn!
I had my truck at the dealer for other issues, I asked them to disconnect my crusie control as the letter from Ford stated because out here in the West, they don't have the parts to fix the recall issue yet. I get my truck back & notice that my horn is not functioning! I call the dealer & the tech swears that what they did to disconnect the cruise has nothing to do with my horn not working. I get home the next day & check ALL of my fuses & everything has continuity. I noticed a harness that was disconnect right next to the power-fuse block in the engine compartment. It had been ty-rapped off to another harness to keep it in place & had electrical tape masking off the contacts to keep the dust out....obviously done by the dealership. I plugged it back in & guess what.......My horn works!! I called the dealer back to reoprt my findings & they acted stumped. They want me to bring it back so they can see it for themselves. I don't know if I'm the first F-150 cc/recall they've seen, but I doubt it living in the greater L.A. area!?! What's really funny is the horn still "beeps" when I use the remote to lock it, but my horn is inop on the steering wheel! They either unplugged the wrong harness or they need to jump a wire to keep my horn functioning until the recall parts arrive. Sure would hate to get into an accident because I didn't have a horn because Ford disconnected it....because they don't have the parts ready yet!!!
****ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THEM?****

That also happen to me, What he did was to unplug the CC module instead of the switch on the master cyl. Thats the switch that was overheating. Have them look at the TSB and they will see what needs to be done.

YEAH, I FIGURED THEY DISCONNECTED THE WRONG PLUG OR DIDN'T JUMP A WIRE FOR THE HORN. WHAT KILLS ME IS THE DEALER "SHOULD" KNOW THEIR OWN PRODUCTS, ESPECIALLY IN THIS INSTANCE WHERE THERE IS A RECALL BECAUSE THEY HAVE ALREADY MADE A MISTAKE! THEY OBVIOUSLY ARE NOT FOLLOWING THE RECALL PROCEDURES LISTED BY FOMOCO FOR THIS SITUATION. THE SERVICE MANAGER IS STUMPED BY MY CLAIM OVER THE PHONE, I JUST HAVEN'T HAD THE TIME TO GET THE TRUCK BACK TO THEM YET SO THEY CAN SEE WHAT THEY DID WRONG.
