What tires to buy?

I will needing some new tires in the near future and I'm having a hard time deciding which ones to get. This question has probably been asked before a million times before, but I'll ask it again. I currently have Goodyear Wrangler ATS's and I'm not to impressed with them. I hunt a good bit, so I'm off-road some but nothing to hardcore.

Which ones will give me the best ride, mileage, traction, and low road noise? I'm going back with the factory size tires of 265/70/17.

Theses are the tires that I'm considering. If you have any other suggestions feel free to give your opinion.

BFG's All Terrain
Michelin LTX M/S
Goodyear Wrangler MTR's
Nitto Terra Grappler

Thanks,

Shannon

I had good experience with Bridgestone Dueler Revo's on my 98 F150 4x4. I would buy it again in a heartbeat. THe BFGoodrich T/A are nice, as they're now on my recent purchased 2002 Supercrew. The Revo's only go up to 265/70/17. But has real nice ride on highway, and grips nicely offroad. The BFGoodrich can go bigger to 285/70/17.

I recently purchased a set of 285/70-17 BFG Muds for my 2001 Screw. I live in Italy and they apparently don't know what drainage is, since every time it rains there is an average of 3/4 to 2 inches of standing water in the roadways, no joke. Therefore, I wanted something with large voids that the water could escape through. Their road manners are O.K., but take some getting used too. Since we don't have problems like this in the states, when I get back and need tires, I'll go with the BFG All-terrains. I don't know much about the Revos, just know a lot of guys use them. I personally don't like the outline white letters, prefer the solid ones. Just my opinion only.

Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's. Do a search on this site. You'll be sold.

Also look up the ratings Here at Tirerack

Do lots of research and you will find that the Bridgestone Dueller Revo is great both on and off the highway. Last big game hunting season I took my Screw into off road areas that most wouldn't. Of those that did only a few did not have to use chains - I was one of those. These are the best tires I have ever owned. Semper Fi

I just put on a set of Big O Bigfoot XT's. They were priced good, have good on road manners, and are great off road. Plus, they have a tire lifetime warrenty, for cuts, flats, whatever! Check them out sometime.

I went with the BFGoodrich A/T's. I called around and got lots of prices and decided that their wasn't enough difference in price between those and the Revo's. I wanted the A/T's, but was willing to go with the Revo's based on all of the positive reviews here.

Fortunately, I was able to go with what I wanted.

Out in the back roads I've noticed some tires here and there... BFG's AT & MUD are probably the most common on better built rigs. Interesting is that I see those BigO's quite often on some older well seasoned rigs and they always seem to be on be worn near bald and still roll’n down dirt roads. They must be a pretty indestructible tire to make it that far. Bridgestone Duelers are somewhat common and I've had a couple sets. Wild country's are quite common too ... but personally I've had nothing but bad experiences with them.

Just some observations from the back roads in my neck of the woods. Not that those listed are the only tires I've seen ... just those relevant to this post, my experiences or most commonly observed way off the beaten path.

Personally I like the Duelers for pavement and some dirt and BFG the other way around.

Thanks for all the input. I'm leaning real hard toward a set of BFG All Terrains.

I completely agree with the Bridgestone Revo choice. I'm sure the BFG's are fine tires but I couldn't be happier with the Bridgestone Revos.
