Well, I finally ordered new tires..

Friday I went over the base gas station (AAFES) and ordered 4 BFG A/T KO's in 285/70/17.

They should be here by the end of the month since they were backordered.

Just wondering, has anyone that has gone with this sized tire had any probs offroading. Any rubbing when the truck is all tweaked or the wheels are fully jammed up in the wheel wells? Just curious as I love the BFG AT's (had them on a Suburban years ago, 35's) and I do offroad pretty heavily and don't want to go thrashing my fenders. Any input would be greatly appriciated. Chuck.

Unfortunately, Been there...Done that....

Reelwork-

Iam telling you this story because all of our stuff comes through AAfes as well.
I am stationed in Italy and I ordered BFG ATs in Novemberform our Autoport, told it would take 1-2 months. 2 months go by and I go to the Autoport and ask where the tires are and they say, "didn't we call you? we can't get them in, their backordered." I about lost it, the old tires started looking like racing slicks. I went to TireRack and ordered some BFG Muds and got them in 6 weeks. I'd stay on top of AAFES if I were you and make sure you don't get left hanging. In my opinion, I'd go through TireRack, they seem to have a better handle on backordered items.
Just my .02cents.

Tirerack is showing availability of May 6, 2005 on the BFG ATs, check what AAFES has.

Good choice!

I have had those tires on a Jeep Grand Cherokee and they were great! LAsted a long time and looked good too. No dry rot, cracks or anything!

Good driving!

I just put a set of Cooper STT's on my SuperCrew, 285/70/16. Got em for $128 a tire through work, you ought to check em out, they look really tough, but are REALLY quiet on the road, compared to Thornbirds.... (LOL). No, really they are no louder than a set of MT's... And cheaper too....

The problem is that I have the FX4 17 inch rims and only a handful of tires are made in that size (285/70x17)..
