01-03 Supercrew Power Rear Window
01-03 Supercrew Power Rear Window
Was watching DIYnet on TV the other night and they showed this episode about installing a power rear window in a 2001-03 Supercrew. I know RP and others have done this in the past but for anyone thinking about it in the future, you may want to print these detailed instructions out from the DIYnet site.
Here's the link to Part I of Part IV. Part I - Prep
The other three parts of the instructions are on the site.
Anyways.. hope these help. One day I need to get around to this myself! My apologies if this was posted before....

Just a reminder.... the link I posted above is only the first part of four - click on "Windows" in the left column box and you'll see the list of articles that includes the remaining three parts of the instructions...
I don't know how long they keep these articles on DIYnet ... I saved each part on my computer for future reference though....
01redcrew - what type of switch did you get with your kit? Did it look like an OEM switch or is it a square one? If it's the square one, you may want to consider getting a 95-96 Ford Contour window switch out of a junkyard - it matches the F150 factory window switches - do a search on "Contour" and you'll find lots of info from RP and others on this.

Yep, I did the switch from the rectangular switch that came with my kit, and it looks much better now. It even has a backlight now. It didn't take too long to do the inital installation either. Haven't gotten much use out of it with all this snow though. Maybe once summer hits I'll use the windows again.
I just bought a Screw last week 2001 and it has got the power rear window.Thaught it was part of an optional package but found out that the truck had been sent to an RVIA conversion center. This thing is loaded with extras.I did notice that it makes a little noise when opening or closeing, sorta like sand init or something but I guess that is normal. It sat on a Ford lott for a month but if people had known that it had been to a conversion center and what the price was it would not have sat there that long.So far i have not seen another truck like it on the road.Normally you will see a half dozen vehicles like the one you just bought with in a day or so.Hope I got lucky and got a good one.
I found one of the switches on ebay, and got it pretty cheap. It matches the power pedal switch - which is exactly what I wanted. I hope to install the kit over the weekend. Thanks again for the heads up!

There's a guy in the classifieds who is selling one now . . . but it was damaged somehow, so it sounds like you better check it out closely.
I found mine on ebay from a Ford dealer in San Diego that wanted to clear out stock - ended up getting it for $179 shipped.
The cheapest place I'd found them otherwise was from www.1stfordparts.com

01Red - what price did www.1stFordparts.com give you for the kit? (I assume it is a CR Laurence window)
Thanks....Mike
Thanks....Mike
I bought mine with it already installed, that along with the sunroof sold me on the truck...it's really great just to press the switch. If it was manual I proably wouldn't have gotten a slider on a Supercrew, to far back to reach.
MikeF150,
I saw the same episode as well. I was really surprised how easy it was to install and that some of the wires were already there for use. Of course it also helps to have the right tools for the job. Good luck for anyone who tries, I figure you should be able to get it done in a day by what I saw on the show.

And before anyone quizzes me on it, yes, that's my old truck shown on the page. And no, I don't get any spiff for that. He simply asked me if he could use my truck's pic..
They're a quality company that is VERY customer oriented. I wouldn't recommend anyone else... unless you can get lucky and snag one off of ebay for a jar of pennies like I did... talk about lucky.
