sometimes it feels like im driving with the brake on
ill be driving along and all of a sudden i start to bog down as if i put my foot on the brake at the same time that im accelerating .
What causes this? i have a 98 f150 with a 5.4

This is a far off bunch of guessing since no one has replied.
The problem could be in a number of places such as water in the fuel, fuel pressure dropping, EGR sticking open, one coil pak dropping out several cylinders.
Look to see if there are any fault codes stored.
If the problem does not occurr often enough and clears no code will be set.
Look for a pattern to this and sometimes this is a situation where you hope it fails permant so you can find the problem and be done with it.

How many miles since the last fuel filter change and mass airflow sensor cleaning (K&N type filters will put an oily residue on the MAF sensor over time)? How about the tranny fluid? When was it last changed? I wonder if the torque converter is going out?
