toppers for fx4

Anybody have any good pics of their 2001-2003 Supercrews with tops? I've been cruising the galleries and found a few, but not many Screws, and escpecially not many FX4s.

If you can post a pic and give some info on the brand, model, price, and any other features, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Here's a pic of mine. It is a Glasstite top. It was on the truck when I bought it so I don't know how much it costs.

I don't have any pics, but just put on an ARE Z series on my 2004 Screw FX4. It looks awesome. Included is grey carpet liner on the top, which matches my Bedrug perfectly.

It cost a little over $1600, but I got many of the options. Such as; flip down front window and sliding front window, 12v dome light, clothes hanger. The fit is great, it matches the contours of the trunk and looks like one piece. If you go to the ARE website, they usually have a $79 discount coupon you can sign up for and apply to your purchase- this includes the options that I got.

I have an A.R.E. Topper that came with my used red supercrew. Found the reciept in the glove compartment from the previous owner. $2000 bucks for that baby with a $200 deposit. He had it done last year.

Its a great match people mistake my truck for an SUV.

One thing on it, the 3rd tail light on the outside does not work anymore. As well as the interior topper light. I have not changed the bulbs yet.

For you ARE topper owners is there a way to access the 3rd tail light blub from the outside? I dont see any exterior screws and from the inside there are only the wires tha run through the topper too it.

Thanks.

Check out the Raider Vagabond. It fits my 2002 perfectly. It's well made, has the carpeted lining, domelight, etc. I believe they are priced in the low $1000 range including color matched paint so they seem to be a pretty good value as well.

If you want to be more versatile you should look at these tops. www.can-back.com

If you look through the site I know they have pictures of a S-Crew
somewhere.

Hope this helps

for GRIZfromKY

Hey GrizfrimKY

I really like the 100 XQ on the red F150.

I went and priced them today and was pretty much in shock.

Almost $2000, that's with the carpet interior, drop out front sliding window, installation and tax. Seems a bit steep when they sell the 100R for about $700 less (but it doesn't look near as good on an SCrew because of the small window)

Would you mind me asking what you paid for yours? (and what it would have been without the roof rack)

I am hoping to haggle a bit.....so just getting an idea what others paid for the same top.

Thanks

Well I got a deal because mine was a floor model at an accessories store in Lexington, KY (Pickups Plus). I've since traded the truck, but the topper already had the roof rack, fishing rod holder, clothes rack, and flip down/sliding window. I paid $1200.00 installed. However, it was blind luck. The day I called to ask if they sold Leer 100XQs they just asked me if I perhaps had a red truck. So it just worked out. Have you checked eBay, or the classifieds on this site? I'd be willing to bet that many people who have traded for the newer model will have these toppers available. Just one more thing--If you're going to spend the money on a topper, go with ARE. I had an ARE on my 98 and a Leer on my 01. I don't think I'd buy a Leer again. The quality of the ARE was by far superior. Good luck, and feel free to email if you have any other questions.

ASH575:

The brake light and dome light of my ARE topper did not work when I bought the truck used in Feb 2005. The Ford dealer just reconnected the wires correctly without removing the topper or dome light. The wires were exposed on the inside back corner of the topper.

Hope this helps....... good luck!
