Sylvania Silverstars

I recently installed a set of Sylvania Silverstar headlights on my Screw. The Silverstars are noticably whiter and brighter overall than the OEM headlights. On the low beam setting there is a huge difference over the OEM Ford bulbs. Here are some pics comparing the Silverstars to the OEM bulbs. The Silverstars are on the driver's side in the pics. The first pic is on low beam setting, the second on high beams.

You've just convinced me to buy a set. Merry Christmas to myself..... Do they make them for the 4x4 fog lights too?? I want to replace all of mine at the same time.

I have an 01screw

I'm pretty sure they make them for our foglights also.

put the 9005 in the fogs. it makes a big difference! the 9005 is a high beam bulb. I haven't had any problems with them...

I put some Sylvania Silverstars on my 2003 and I couldn't see down the streets after installing them. I read about others having them and looked at the chart that showed how they were better ,but I didn't see that they were better. I put the old ones back in and then I could see better driving down the street.Did I get a bad set, somethings not right, others say how great they are and were happy with them after installing the Sylvania Silverstars.

I've had the Silverstars (9006 & 9005) on my Lincoln LS for awhile now - they make a huge difference. I just got my F-150 Monday, so haven't really had a chance to get anything for it yet. That will probably be one of the first things I change about it, though.

Cheers,

Storm

Sylvania "officially" doesn't make a 9145 for the fogs. It's "in the works". Most people just take a 9005ST and mod the tab and stick it in. I just finished doing mine tonight.

No I didn't aim them,I didn't know you had too. I missed reading anything about having too aim them, thouht it was plug and drive.Figured you only had to that if the truck was lifted up and changed the angle of the headlights. They looked ok, but maybe they were off some how. I did have some trouble getting the housing back lined up,but when I changed back they went back ok. I would like some brighter lights when I'm out in no mans land at night and figured the Sylvania Silverstars would do the job for me.

I'm guessing a Xenarc HID kit is out of your budget? I just installed one about a week ago and love it...it puts the SilverStars to shame.

But seriously, if you pulled the headlamp assembly out to put the new bulbs in, then there was a really good chance you may have botched installing the lamp assemblies back in correctly, thus the aim would have been off and given you poor results. Trying to get those 3 damn pins lined up, along with the guide tabs could be a challenge. I had to reinstall one of my Xenarc lamp assemblies twice because I couldn't get it just right. There is absolutely NO reason for you to get poorer performance out of a SilverStar than a standard halogen bulb....assuming you're running the stockers.

I'll try it again sometime when the weather warms up. I've been looking at the Xenarc HID kits, just have too part with the money. The lights are stock that came with the truck. I figure that I didn't get the lamp assemblies lined up good, I'll take my time next time and pull some of the brush gruard off so I'll some room to work. Thanks Tony

While the put out a "whiter" light, I don't think they do anything for improving night vision. I don't see as well with them as I did the old ones. However, I'm just going to let these go until they burn out. I don't plan to get anymore of them though.

You must be thinking of something else, but last I checked (about 5 minutes ago with OSRAM Sylvania Customer Support) Sylvania still does NOT have a SilverStar model of the 9145 bulb in any market (Canadian or US). Their ETA on releasing the 9145 bulb in SilverStar was April 2005. Either that or the lady at Sylvania was blowing smoke up my tailpipe...
