Silverstars for 2004 SCrew....

Has anyone been able to locate the 9008's for the headlamps or the 9145's for the fog lamps for their 2004 Supercrews lights?
Of course I am talking about the Silverstars.

I have a 2002 Screw. I replaced OEM headlights and fog lamps this weekend. The 2002's use 9007's for the headlights, but they do use the 9145 for the fog/driving lights. I could not find the 9145, but I purchased the 9005's and modified the tabs on my bench grinder to match the socket for the 9145. They work perfectly with no issues.

I have some Sylvania 9005ST's on the way over. Did you mod the tabs on the 9005's or did you have to do something to the actual Ford socket?

Thanks,

Tony

I modified the tabs on the 9005's. Take out the 9145 and compare to the 9005, you will see the difference in one of the tabs. Just shave down the tab on the grinder until it matches.

No issues so far.

Thanks for the tip Pete. Regarding the quote, do you run your fogs all the time w/the headlights or is it an occasional use only?

I'm wondering about heat build-up issues at the moment. AT most, I would get about 30-40 minutes of constant ON use between long cool down periods. Just wish Sylvania would roll out a 9145ST....

I've been running SS's in my fogs for well over 2 years now and absolutely love them. As has been mentioned, I'm using the 9005 bulb but, in order to use that, I had to snip one of the flanges off of each bulb in order to make it fit. To date, I've had absolutely NO problems to report and I'm on my second set.

I run mine VERY frequently and have had no overheating problems (like I did with some old Xenon bulbs off of ebay -- el cheapos - they melted my housings).

I run my fogs all the time. No issues with cut-out or heat build up.

Pulled the lamps out the other day to check them and they look fine as does the socket.

Found this link, but don't know how accurate this is, so don't quote me on it.

http://www.brightheadlights-hid.com/...ilver-Star.htm

It says "Coming Soon" 9145ST, so we'll see I guess....

Allow me to translate....AHEM...AHEM

"FAT CHANCE you'll ever see us release this before your car becomes obsolete."

I mean for christ's sake, what does it take to "develop" a lightbulb that is almost exactly the same as 70%+ of the other products in the SilverStar line?

I have replaced the fog lamps in my 2004 SCrew with 9005's and did not have to modify them at all, just had to twist a little harder.
However, I can not find the 9008's for the headlamps. I may attempt to use a 9007's to see if they will work. I will let all here know.

If you can find any way to do so, let me know!!!!!!!!

I put 9005 bulbs in to the fogs by fileing the tab down slightly. Real simple. I am also useing 100w bulbs and have been doing so for about 2 months with no problems. I run them all the time and was worried they might get too hot, but even at low speeds or stopping and leaving them running, I have had no problems with either the lens or the wires. And I chekc them often! They are birghter than the freakin headlights!!!!!

heat in the lamp housing is the least of your concerns. It is the amperage draw on the 100w bulbs that will melt the wiring.
