I have a 2003 FX4 Supercrew and to be honest it's hand's down the most disappointing vehicle I've ever owned. The fuel mileage is horrible, I dorve from Tucson, Az to Yuma, AZ pulling a 20' travel trailer and iy got 6.8mpg, I drove the same trip pulling a car trailer empty and got 7.9mpg. I've had this thing to the dealer many times and I always get the same answer " It's fine". It has never got better than 10mpg. I had a 96 GMC before this and it was a great truck I sold it because it had 245,000 miles and I figured it was time to buy a new truck before it died. Now I own a ****box and my GMC is still running great. My Ford does drive nice it's just horribly underpowered gets terrible mileage. On the bright side off road it's great I can dune this thing where my GMC wouldn't dare go. But soon I will buy a Dodge.

Tommy2spd,

I can't believe I found someone who gets worse mileage than I do while towing. I have an 04 SCAB FX4 and I get 12 city, 16 highway, and 8 towing my 26 foot travel trailer. I guess I should be happy I am getting 8, it could be worse!

I've got a 2001 XLT 4X4 with about 30K miles with big BFG Mudders. I used to get around 12-13mpg city before the mudders. Now I'm down to 10-11mpg city. I pull a 30' travel trailer (8,000lbs loaded) & get about 8mpg. Getting under 8mpg towing a 20' travel trailer with "stock" tires just don't sound right! Unless it's an overloaded toy-hauler with the tanks full driving up Pike's Peak!?!

Actually I have 315/75/16's on my truck. And towing 8k lbs with one of these guttless piles probably limits you to 50mph on a flat road in 2nd gear with the pedal on the mat.
