Busted slip yoke
Last night the "ears" that hold the u-joint broke on the slip yoke that goes into the transmission on my 2001 SuperCrew. I was backing up a steep driveway with only 2 adults and a baby in the truck. I do not tow anything or haul heavy loads. I only have 85k miles on the truck that I bought new.
My mechanic (not the Ford dealer!) said he has never seen that happen and the local Ford dealer did not have the part in stock. Will be here Sat morning.
I plan to take the broken part to the Ford dealer and see what they or more specifically the Ford factory rep will do about it.
Anyone else had this issue and/or tried to get Ford to pay on such things?
I love the truck but get very frustrated when something like this happens.
Maybe my truck wasn't "Built Ford Tough"!
