just got an 01 screw...my thoughts

I just got a 2001 supercrew w/4.6 4x4 offroad and I love it....except for one thing. The factory head unit blows ( soon will be remedied).

I love this truck. Its got just under 41K on it and it is nice. I need to get a few items and I'll be happy.

Intake
Duel exhaust
Decent set of floor mats
Ventshades
Bfg AT ko's
3'' lift.

If I can get even half of the above stuff done I'll be stoked.

Jim

I too just purchased an 01 XLT 4x4 5.4, red over silver, tow package, with 25K miles. I loaded it up and threw my Explorer on a trailer and moved the family from Seattle BACK to San Diego. I was very impressed with the performance through the mountains in southern Oregon and coming over the grapevine - even in 100+ degrees with the A/C going it never gave any indication of wanting to overheat.

It has the tiny 255/70/16 tires, which would be great on the Explorer. Some 285/75/16 are in the near future with some better looking rims. Then theres the headers, cat back, intake...

Great forums here - lots of good information.

Later!

I just took it on my first voyage to our cottage and I love it. Lots of room for stuff and the dogs.

I think I'm gonna swap out the 60/40 front bench for buckets. I really dont like my bench. The drivers side foam is a little squished by the door. I feel like I'm leaning to the left.

17 mpg on first tank. Not bad being that I ran the A/C on max the whole time. I love this truck.

Now for the intake and exhaust. That ought to add to the mpg methinks....

Probably not, If you want mpg and performance then go to electric fans first.

Just my opinion.

Welcome!

First of all "Welcome" to the site & congrat's on the new S'crew! I have an '02 w/5.4 2wd and have put over 40000 miles in the last year with only one problem (lost a "coil pack" on one cyl. @ 35000 miles). I avg. 17mpg city/hwy. Love the room & don't really miss the shorter bed. Good luck & enjoy!
