2001 Screw Lariat 4x4

So I found this truck while driving at the mall its a great looking screw 4x4 lariat, white with tan interior, the truck has 85k miles on it but it looks great. The price sais $17,500 is that a good price for a truck like this? It is fully loaded with tow package and all. I mean this thing is mint. I am supposed to go look at it more in depth tomorrow but would you guys buy it? Also what questions should I ask and what should I *really* look for that isnt obvious to most.

Check,

www.edmunds.com

most dealerships don't recognize NADA anymore, this will give you a good idea as to pricing but the mileage seems kinda high for 12,000 a year average commuting check around I'm thinking there is a better deal out there.

On Edmunds I get $18,355 the miles are high, due to commute to work, but I agree that their *could* be a better deal out their. I dont know I guess I got excited because this is the lowest price I have seen a great looking screw for out here.

I like it...But here's my story...I bought one last March for 24,995.00 Canadian...I had a dodge to trade that cost me big time...It was from a Ford dealer and it was serviced there...The brakes are all disk (nice)and they were done over new..transmission work that needed service was done..some front end work was done...Oil changed, etc...It had 85,000k (that's NOT miles) on it...Miles would be 53,125miles...They put a new front window in it and I changed the plugs (they are good for 100,000k)and new K & N air filter...They did 2 line-ups to get it right and running true...Better then half the tire wear was left...Came with 265 r70/17 goodyear rt/s...I don't like them...I had to find the door code under the dash myself...I got 2 remotes with keys...60 day warranty...The truck runs great...Has the 4.6 motor...

The 5.4 would be nice with the tow setup but mine did not have it...You will want to check out the 4x4 and electic botton on the dash to see they work right...Try taking a CD and check the CD player and sound system...I never liked a truck like I do this one...I plan on getting Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos once I get the money, same size as above...so good luck on your deal...

So you need get it gone over by your man and check the Ford dealer computer for that truck # to see what was done or not done or needs to be done yet......You could get some more off that price depending what you find out...

He who offers first loses...so they say...

Talking

I purchased a 2001 Lariat 4X4 Screw last November with 26,000 miles on it. Paid 23,250. Traded in a S10 ZR2 1998 extended cab 4X4 - the difference was $13,000. This is the best truck I have ever owned.

The dealers use the NADA value book as their bible. I have sold several brands of automobiles including Ford and Toyota. The Blue book is overstated and can be used to manipulate inflated prices. It is a way to make you think you are getting great trade in deals. Never pay MSRP and try to deal with one of the fleet salespersons - most likely they won't ask any questions and just want the sale (especially at the end of the month). You can purchase fleet on both new and used.

I would definately contact Carfax (internet) and run the VIN - Pay the fee - because you want all of the data. Mine had 7 entries when it was purchased. None of them were issues. If the data shows only minor entries, then work the price and you most likely will have a good SCREW purchase.

Hope you get your Screw. Took mine into the high country this past weekend to scout elk and Deer. Saw 8 big bull elk and 10 big muley bucks. Anyway, this was the first test of my Bridgestone Dueller Revo's and they were awsome off road.

Good stuff...if you have no trade he should do better on the price as well...Get some pictures if you get it so we get a look...Stick to your guns and tell him you will walk....Try offer 16,000.00 first if its all you think it is...Remember ...The new 2005's are coming out soon...

See what repairs or upgrades it needs FIRST before you offer...One last thing check what it has for tires...that does make a difference in how the rig runs...Lots of tire threads advice on here telling what's good and not so good and why !!!...read up so you know...good luck...
