max tire size for 01 Screw

I've got and '01 supercrew lariat and want bigger tires. I saw on Trucks an '02 supercrew got 33" tires on 18" x 10" rims without lifting it. That truck had the FX4 package and I do not. Has anyone put 33s on an '01?

Has anyone adjusted torsion bars to gain any height on the front?

All 4x4's have the same ride rights, except for the tire size difference. Some people have gotten as large at 315/70R17 on stock rims and suspension (but cranking the torsion bar) which would be about 34.3" tall. A 33" tire is what most people looking to upgrade think looks best.

APT,

Nice lookin' truck. Are you sure that all 4 x 4's have the same ride height? I would swear that I've seen some screws look lower than others. Mine, for example, looks like it rides lower than '02s and '03s. I will try to get some pictures up tonight.

Every 97-03 F-150 4x4 has the same ride height, except for the tires. Some have taller tires which raises the axles and the heights. Spring settling over time and torsion bar adjustments can also show differences, but the factory spring/torsion bar height was the same. Thanks for the comp!

Nice lookin truck. Did your tires rub at all before you got the body lift? Did you have to cut the front bumper at all? I couldnt tell from the pics.

Yeah, the tires touched the corner of my bumper's lower plastic valance. I had to trim about 1/2 inch of plastic off to fix this. Here's a pic.

thanx wandell,

the tire stores keep telling me there's no way that 33's will fit without a lift kit, but from what I've seen here it looks like I'm good to go.

My tire dealer told me he didn't think 33's would fit either. Then I find out you can fit 35's on a stock truck. Every tire dealer can't possibly know every tire combination that fits on every truck

The backspacing on my rims is 4 1/2 inches. THis is how you measure backspacing.
