HELP on Options!!!

I am going to order 2004 SCREW F-150 Lariat

The reason for ordering it is that I can not find any dealer that has what i want:

Black exterior
tan interior
limited slip
tow package
skid plates
40/20/40 seats
bed extender
sliding rear window

I do not want a moon roof and heated seats (that is $1,600) more for those and I don't currently ever use them in my limited explorer so i figure why get them..

As far as the radio goes would I be better off just getting the cheapest radio Ford has put in, if I am going to have someone put in a system for me? Or do I need to get an upgraded stereo to make it easier for a new system to get put in?

Also please let me know if you think a moon roof and heated seats are things that I should get,for future resale value or some other reason.

Thank you very much.
I need to order this vehicle in the next week and would really appreciate any help!

If you are going to put in your own stereo, I would not spend the money on a factory system - you will end up replacing all of it anyways.

In my opinion, I would get the sunroof. I love my sunroof and it has been one of the reasons why I have kept my truck. More and more manufacturers are putting them in trucks, so obviously there is a market for them.

As far as heated seats, I guess it all depends on the conditions that your truck is going to be in. Where you live, where the truck is going to be parked (day and night), etc. My wife actually would prefer that I have heated seats more than I do, but she also complains how hot the leather gets in the summer time.

By the way, can you get heated seats with the bench (40/20/40)?? I always thought that was an option only for the captain's chairs.

Good luck with your purchase!!

IMHO, If you want exact options, the best way to get them is to go to a dealer you like, use their computer and ORDER a new Screw. Do not waste time looking at inventory on the lots. You will not find the exact options that you want. It may take a bit longer to get the truck, BUT it is what YOU wanted. We have done this for our last 2 new vehicles.

2001 Screw 4X4 XLT

Spray in Liner
Snugtop XTR Topper

I just got a white one with a sunroof. IMO, the sunroof is nice, but not really necessary. It's larger than the ones Ford used in the past, but not as big as the ones on my old Sequioa. It has the auto-slide open, but you have to hold the switch to close it. It vents, as well.

The obvious alternative is the cool, IMO, overhead console thing. It'd be nice to have a place to house sunglasses and have the option to "customize" what you want up there. Your dealership should have a brocure telling you what all compartments you can put up there.

I got my sunroof because I'm tall and weird - I need the extra headroom/light for comfort and sanity's sake. I'd lose my mind if my head rubbed against the "dark" roof all day. Not that it's dark, but you know what I mean.

I'm not sure what it'll do to your resale value, but I personally wouldn't worry about that too much. There are just as many people out there for as there are against, so I'd imagine it'd be a wash. Plus, the $800 you save can put a dent in a nice stereo setup.

Depending on where you live, I'd skip the heated seats. In the Houston area, I NEVER used the ones on my Sequoia. They were more of a nuissance than not. I gladly skipped thta extra $$$ when I bought my truck.

Don't laugh! I don't know how I made it without one in my Lightning. Now that I've had one, I HAVE to keep having them. Without it open, it feels as if the car/truck is closing in on me. I can't even begin to explain that sensation, but I can say that it sucks donkey *****.

If it makes any difference, I can't really wear caps, either. It's the same "vision-blocking" sensation, I guess. LOL!

Regarding the radio, there is nothing important that comes with the other aduio options that doesn't come with the base radio. About the only thing I can think of is if an upgraded HU came with RCA pre-outs, but none do. Save the money for more/better aftermarket stuff if you plan to replace things anyway.

I love my sunroof, but using it by itself isn't nearly as effective as with the sliding rear window. I love the fresh airflow so I often drive with all 6 windows open and controlling the airflow with the power slider rules. But, I know many people that never put the windows down and leave the A/C on all the time. So, the sunroof is an exspensive option to them so skip it.
