I sort of hear a sqeak sometimes when I make turn only. I think I remember reading about something like this on the boards a while back. Do a search and see if something pops up. If it's still under warranty, take it in.

I just got my 03 supercrew back from the body shop. It got wrecked by the wife and the frame got bent and they had to do a complete frame swap. ANYWAY, to get to the point, about a week after i got it back it started to creak like an old ship when i turned the wheel. I got under the front end and had my son turn the wheel. What i came up with was the big bolt that connects the independent suspension arm to the frame was loose. (i think thats what it would be called) i got about a half turn on it and the noise stopped.

Lower ball joints are wore out!

They dry up from no grease and then wear and squeak!

Can’t you put grease fitting in and give them a shot of grease? I did that on an old Ranger. If there isn’t a spot to screw a fitting into you can grease the cup using a needle like attachment on a grease gun. This is just stuff I’ve done to get the last mile out of parts.

I have a grease needle and with 60k miles on my truck i have now stuck it in all of the joints and greased them. Once you poke a hole in the rubber boots the rubber is so heavy it seals back up pretty tight.....

I replaced my lowers at 40K squeaking away. cut the boots off the old ones and they were COMPLETELY DRY.....

So while sticking a needle in and greasing them now will stop the squeak they are still wore out I'll bet...

They probably are worn out; using the grease needle only postpones the inevitable. You should be able to judge for yourself how bad they are by feeling for excessive play; then the judgment call is yours whether to replace or prolong.

Sorry to say but my truck had no free play either by pulling on the wheel. Only after the joint was out of the truck could i see the freeplay.......

Your balljoints are wore out!!

Oh and they don't put grease fittings on them, so they can say there low maintenance vehicles... You know it helps the owner out by not having to do all of that silly stuff....
