Does anyone know what size tire I can put on my 2001 supercrew with 17 inch stock rims. I have 265 70/17 right now I am looking for a little taller(to fill in wheel wells). thanks Ken

Your best bet for a larger tire with the stock wheels would be a 285/70-17 (33x11.50). The largest size you could fit would be a 315/70-17 (35x12.50). This is the absolute largest and is a very tight fit. You would have to crank up your torsion bars and trim a little plastic from your front bumper's lower valance. You could also fit a 33x12.50-17 or a 305/70-17 (34x12.50).

Thanks again for the info
It seems like the 285's are the way to go
when you say half of a inch you to the curb height

The 285's are an inch taller (33 vs 32 inches tall) so the overall height of the truck will be 1/2 inch taller (top of the roof).

You might want to check this site for sizing. You just plug in the tire size and it compares all the measurements of each tire:

That's a nice link. I've gone to the Tire Rack website before to get size info - nice for numbers on a particular brand/type of tire, but not as handy as this.

I have 255/70R16s on my 4x4 now - think I'll go to a 285/75 as soon as I can wear these out!
