Driver side power mirror fix?
Driver side power mirror fix?
I just wondering if you could give me some advise on replacing my driver side exterior mirror. A vehicle hit it the other night and it folded away, unfortunately the mirror glass broke. I have the 2002 Harley edition with the little red flasher outside of the mirror. Can I order just the mirror glass? How do you get the back of the mirror off? I would appreciate your advice and or experience with this issue.
Thanks,
Bart

Ford uses the same mirror for both left and right sides on most all vehicles that they make. The mirror itself is attached to its base frame with "silicone" and can be pried off with a screwdriver. If you go to a bone yard and find a truck with a mirror on either side, you can simply pry it off and flip it around to reveal the opposite side if needed. One side of the mirror will be for driver and other side, when flipped over, will be for the passenger side with convex curve.
I'm not sure if the heated mirrors are the same though, but I have replaced mirror glass in the past for both my 94' Explorer and a friends 98' F150.
Good Luck

I had something on my 99 that apparently can happen if the mirror gets hit. I bought mine with inop passenger mirror. In the end, it appears that the mirror got hit and caused the mirror to break a retaining tab on the pivot post. There is a small wiring plug inside the pivot, and when the mirror was lifted off the pivot, it broke the tab and unplugged the mirror. This plug doesn't seem to be listed on wiring diagrams.
