Haku has the right answer! You should diode isolate this wire just make sure your diode is turned the correct way otherwise it won't help! I've done leterally dozens of similar installs with GEMS - mustangs, rangers and f150s, using one diode per input took care of the annoying alarm.

back to the drawing board.

Okay, the problem continues. Here goes. I tried using a diode per the diagram that Haku sent me. It did isolate the trigger so it didn't see ground when the GEM goes into sleep mode.

Problem:
The system uses Ground as the trigger for the door being open. When the door is closed, there are 12 volts to the wires for the doors and the interior lights. When the door is opened the wires for the door trigger and light show ground. With the diode in place it doesn't see ground. So if the alarm is armed and someone opens the door the the diode blocks it from seeing ground and the alarm does not go off.

On Haku's relay idea. The door would show ground when the relay is open or if the Gem goes to sleep so that wont work either.

Anybody have any other ideas? Thank you everybody for the help so far, it makes a big difference having everyone help.

Maybe this will help us to visualize what we have been discussing. It looks like either method should work to me unless the GEM is providing the ground side of the circuit. Correct this as necessary.

The Gem

That is the problem, the GEM isn't dropping to 0V, it is going to ground on all circuits when it goes to sleep, and the ground is provided by the GEM for the door switch and the lights. While awake all door triggers and the doom light have 12V. While asleep, all door triggers and doom light shows ground.

Looking at this again, if you have GND or 0V (same thing) on your GEM outputs the diode if installed (CORRECTLY - cathode/stripe pointing to the light) INLINE (this line must be cut and diode connected) as in my pic should block the current flow from the alarm to the GEM when its goes to sleep(GND). The door switch is open when the door is closed so that stops current flow (+ to - / GND) in that direction. I hope I'm not being redundant or underestimating your electrical knowledge but it looks like it should work. Guess I need to buy my remote start/alarm and try it myself to see how it works.
