Having a problem with 2001 Supercrew 4.6 42K - at diferent speeds when accelerating it seems that the transmission shutters and hesitates, espescially when on incline. Has anyone had same problem? Less than year ago dealer replaced needle bearing valves and torque converter. ???

 

Transmission shudder was common on 4R70w transmissions in the early '90's mostly gone after '96. The near term fix is change the fluid, filter and be shure to us MERCON V. Valvoline makes a synthetic blend and thats what I use in my '94 T-bird and '99 Sable. Castrol makes a non-syn mercon V. TCCoA is a T-bird forum like this and they have lots of in depth info on this problem including some great fixes you can do in your garage.
