Thumbs up New exhaust installed

Well, I bit the bullet today and finally had a new Magnaflow exhaust put on the truck. I had done some research and also read many posts on here and decided I wanted the Magnaflow 15609 system put on the truck. But I was talking to my buddy and he had a local shop put on a set of duals on his GMC and had the Magnaflow muffler. He told me to call him and see what he would charge either for the whole system or let him put his own system on with the Magnaflow muffler. I was all set to order the system from Troyer for $438, and then this guy quotes me $250 plus tax installed. Unbelievable! Anyway, had him put his system on. Bottom line, he ordered the same Magnaflow muffler that came in the 15609 kit, and a 4" polished stainless Magnaflow tip, bent up 3" stainless pipe and installed it on my truck. Essentially, he installed the same components that come in the kit on my truck and I saved almost $200. With shipping it probably would have been over that. And the truck sounds awesome! It is also completely welded not clamped as it would have been if I had ordered the system and put it on myself. Can you tell I'm excited? I want to go out and start the truck and just listen to the pipes. Anyway, anyone in the Northern IL or southern WI area, I highly recommend this guy. Nice guy and does awesome work for a very reasonable price. Just had to brag a little guys, sorry. I will snap some pics when the weather isn't so cold.

Buckeye - He told me he used the 14259 muffler, and it looks like the 35116 polished tip. I'm not sure if that is the one that comes with the 15609 system, but I really like it. It has the 15 degree cut with a rolled edge. It is sweet. I will get some pictures and post them soon if the weather cooperates. not bad today but it's supposed to snow tomorrow.

Hey Il6Fan, Greetings from Loves Park,ILL. I've been wanting to do the same thing to my 2001
Screw but price has always put this at the bottom of my to do list. Also nobody seems to know anyone in this area who custom bends stainless much less welds it. Who did your install??

I just ordered a magaflow online $55 and had a local Shop cut the original off and weld the new one $25. Sounds like a V-8 now and no drone at speeds

Toolmaker - Tried to respond to your e-mail but it came back undelivarable. Anyway, I had it done at McKillup muffler in Beloit. Let me know and maybe we can meet up somewhere and you can look and listen to it. I think they did a great job and am lovin it.

How did they "Bend up" the pipe? If it wasn't mandrel bent, then you really didn't get the same thing that comes in the 15609 kit.

Still sounds like a good deal though

Does modifications to the exhaust system void the trucks warranty in any way? If not then how far can you go before it will affect the waranty?

exhaust

i just recieved a gibson dual sport mandrel bent system from 4wheelonline.com. very easy install and the kit whith stainless steel dual tips was only $289. I paid a local guy to $30 to remove the clips and weld the exhaust. Sound is awsome, pretty loud deep rumble outside the truck but very quiet inside the truck. about half as loud as a flowmaster system. Great people geat system and a great price for a mandrel bent system.
