Engine Noise specific to 2003?

Sounds like the service technicians at the dealership might be screwing around with my friends wife because she's a woman. Anyway, they've been complaining about some kind of ticking noise coming from the engine compartment on there 2003 F-150 SuperCrew and the dealership hasn't been of much help and they told her it's normal because of the plastic intakes. When she told them that I've never complained they asked what year my SuperCrew was and she told them 2002 they said that it only happens on 2003's.

Any truth to this? I honestly never noticed if there is a difference in intakes between mine and there 2003

Unhappy

sorry to hear that your dealer is not trying to help you first things first what size is your engine? 4.6 or 5.4? if you have the 4.6 2V you may have a problem with your cyl heads?I work for a FORD dealer as a tech and have done a few heads already on the 4.6 only tell the dealer to refer to TSB 03-25-06 they probably know already but don't want to do the repair as it is not a fun job changing cyl heads. Ford issued this TSB for vehicles built at the ROMEO plant built before 09-17-03 there is a procedure to follow if it leads to nothing we are instucted per the TSB to install revised cyl heads part # 4L3Z 6049 AA RIGHT HAND & 4L3Z 6049 BA LEFT HAND. some motors had a ticking sound from the engine heard from the wheel well area. good luck let me know if you had any luck.

DAN

Sorry about that, it's a 5.4. He said that he can sometimes hear the sound from the passenger side fender and it will cause a vibration that can be felt through the steering wheel and when it gets bad even through the dash. I went over there tonight and couldn't hear it but he says it normally happens once it's warm and has been driven for a bit. Any ideas?

Not really a vibration at idle but while driving down the road. He had me rev it up a few times but I didn't notice anything unusually. And for the noise, supposedly some kind of knocking sound but again I didn't hear much.
