Projector headlights on SuperCrew?
Projector headlights on SuperCrew?
Anybody have a picture of a Projector headlight on the 2001-2003 F-150? Looking to replace mine on my 03 Screw but don't know if it is worth it. It's either these or I am saving some detail money for the Xenarc Head and fog light set up. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks
thanks
Lightning Heads/Corners:

I was pretty disappointed with the way they lights performed. Sure, they look absolutely awesome (IMO) but, they seemed to be more like a 'pencil' beam rather than a nice spread of light.
Xenarcs / L Corners:

Nearly the same look as the L heads but with actual functionality.
The Xenarcs outperform stock and L heads on a scale that I can't properly describe. They're awesome....
More headlight pictures in my Mods Gallery.

Definately worth the cost, but I only paid $140 or $160 for mine for the corners and heads.
Best upgrade I have done! (Turned out much better than the Ford emblem thing
... Looks I may get a new emblem since of the wreck anyway (yay) )
It is hard to see without the fog lights on at night.

Projector Headlights
I saw your thread on F-150 online about your headlights. I have adjusted the aim height and changed out my bulbs to Sylvannia Silverstar bulbs and I am VERY happy with the lighting distance. However, I would now like to do something about the "appearance" of the lenses.
Have you ever seen those new "halo" headlights for F-150's that have projector lenses and have neon rings around the lenses? The resemble the look of the new model BMW headlights. Here's a few links to the websites.

What do you think of these lenses? Do you think they look stupid?
Also, do you think those Xenarc outshine Sylvannia Silverstar bulbs?
Thanks!!!

i wish i read this thread BEFORE i got my new L headlights for my 02 Screw. I like the clear look, but i didn't think the performance would be bad.
as for the look of those other "halo" lights - i gotta agree with Hazard269 on this one, those lights have "ricer" written all over them. but its your truck - do what YOU like.
and guys - be nice to dellwest - maybe he can hook us all up with a great deal on an Eaton blower for our Screws!!
ps dellwest - does Eaton have plans for a screw type blower for the 04 F150 yet? What kind of top secret details can you tell us??

oh one other thing, Hazard269 - that is a great price for your L head lights - are they the real SVT ones? You can tell by looking at the reflector - should say SVT. did you pay $160 for the corners and headlights? They look great on your truck by the way - can't wait to get mine installed.
Anyway, how difficult was it to install the new Lightning head lights? and is it a pain to adjust the beam height after the new ones are in?
thanks

Thank You,
Yes they are the SVT lights I bought them from a guy with a lightning down here. He went to Xenarcs and some clear corners.
They are pretty easy to install, no harder than replacing the bulbs in the lights. But adjusting them can be a PITA sometimes, but RP should be able to give a link for a oold to adjust them.
IMO the L (or HD) heads and corners along with the fog lights are among the best things a person can do for looks IMO. The reason I say fog lights is because my truck did not come with them, and I think adding them really made the front end look better.
I have the 9005 (high beam) bulbs in the fogs and they really help to light up the road. With out them it is somewhat dark, but some people say the silverstarts help to light up the road a little better due to their higher Kelvin rating.

2 things...
Two things:
1) For yoots guyz lusting after the Xenarcs but short on dough, I can testify that the Silverstar bulbs will help get you "close" and a whole lot cheaper. After I installed my Silverstars and re-adjusted my headlight aim the difference was 2 fold. I can now see about 100 feet away and at least 30 feet side to side, and with a much whiter light. Still not as good as the germans with their fancy xenons, but close. I still think I'm gonna spring for the Xenarcs though......
2) As far as Eaton Supercharger secrets, it looks like the well is all but dried up from Ford. We are running the last Lightning, Harley Davidson, and Mustang units pretty soon and no new models (from Ford anyway) for a while. Oh, almost forgot, we still have the huge GT-40 unit, but who can afford a $150K 500HP dream car like that anyway? The next supercharged Ford unit we have on the horizon is the next Lightning truck, which will be a much smaller but potent SCREW compressor (not the standard roots type) will be in 2006 or 2007 I think.
