Severe Cab Resonance 2004 f-150

Howdy,
I just bought a new 2004 f150 Screw 4x4. On the way home from the dealer, I put one of the rear windows down. This truck is a perfect echo chamber, the cab began to resonate badly, and I do mean badly. The noise was so loud my seat was shaking and it made my head hurt. I lowered the front window slightly and it immediately stopped. It was like having a powerful subwoofer on a continuous low frequency test tone.

Conditions:
All windows closed except one back window.
Speed: approximately 70 mph
Temperature: 55 degrees
Climate control: off

Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks in advance!

Grim

It's a common problem.

I have a 2001 and, with the moonroof open and nothing else, I have a very similar occurance. Crack a window and it goes away.

This is why I installed my power rear window....

I believe that this will be one of the few issues that you'll have with your 2004 SCREW though... enjoy it! It's a beautiful truck!

Oh yes, where are my manners? WELCOME TO f150online.com!!!

It is not just limited to Ford or the F-150's. My wife has an '02 Ch*vy Trailblazer EXT that does the same thing. If either one of the rear side windows are down, without the front, the whole inside resonates.

hi

This is fairly common. A lot of new vehicles do this. Besides my truck I've had 2 jettas that did it also. Just the way of aerodynamics
