fog light mod question
fog light mod question
o-k, i saw the links and the pictures and read the articles. but i still can not figure out how to put the thing back together. what i mean is this. after the switch housing is pulled out of the truck, they say to cut the heat welds from the housing and face plate, but do not say how to put it back together! crazy glue?, but what if i have to fix the switch down the road and now it is crazy glued shut forever? just asking for help! willie
I can't help you here... I didn't cut my heat welds when I did the mod...
You might try Elmer's Glue.
Just kidding...
Seriously, I think that, if you test your work and see that it works, you'll never be back inside the switch again and thus, yes, superglue should do the trick.

huh? the great RP does not have a meguires suggestion? what is the world coming too! oy vay!! i'm in such great despair now!! what to do what to do?!!!
haha! anyway, i'm doing it right now and it is coming out fantastic. i was looking at the thread from SVT, and was readinmg that he did it without taking the faceplate off too! i was looking at it for a while and could not figure out how you guys did it till after io cut the heat tabs off and saw the locking clips. i think that whoever did that article might want to add that in for us impatient types! but all is well with the mod thus far, i will keep all posted and post some pics soon! thanks RP, and whoever the masked man who did the article, fantastic i might add, very descriptive!

Yeah... the foglight mod is one of my favorite mods.... it really gives the truck a 'mean' look at dusk.... very unique looking.

RockPick,
I've seen you mention several times that you did this mod without cutting the heat welds. What kind of instrument did you use to get in there without cutting those welds?
I didn't have any problems putting mine back together. I've seen several folks have used super glue, then get the white haze on the entire switch after it dries. The best thing to use IMO is a good model glue and let it set up for about an hour before putting the switch back in.

When I did this mod I carefully pryed up the heat welds and when all was said and done...I dabbed super glue back on top of the heat welds. That was a year ago and I have pried the whole assembly out of the cubby for it on the dash many times to work and re-work my KC daylighter rocker switch.
Needless to say the light switch hasn't come apart yet.
