Question Air Intake Installation

I need to know how to install an aftermarket air intake. It is one those $40 jobs off of ebay. What happens to the air flow sensors? It is going on a 2001 5.4L supercrew. If anyone knows a website that has pictures or detailed instructions? Thanks

Even when you buy from the manufacturer the instructions are pretty much worthless. Are you replacing the entire black plastic "L" that the airbox attaches to?

If so your oxygen sensor just screws out of the old and goes into the new. You will also have to install a bracket to hold the new cone filter.

If this is what you bought:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2456192441

Then take out your old box and black "L" tair intake from the engine housing to the wheelwell removing the oxygen sensor.

Take the black boots and connect them to the ends of the chrome "L". The bracket should clip into where the old Air BOX was (2 holes in the chassis) it will just push down. Then just hook up the OX sensor and cone filter and you should be on your way.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help without a picture of exactly what you bought for $40.

If it is just a square filter just open the filter box, throw out the old, and drop in the new.

Hope this was helpful and not just un-intelligable garbage.

You can see 2 boots along with the tubing and the mounting hardware...It is actually the air temperature sensor that goes into the black fitting on the side of the tube between the 2 hose nipples...1 boot fits up to the throttle body then to the tube and then the other boot fits from the other end of the tube to the Mass air flow sensor body ( after you remove the plastic surround on the sensor body, don't bang it around doing it) the L bracket should fit where the stock air box mounted and between the filter and the end of the MAF sensor body ...the 2 tubes that were attached to the stock tube will go on the 2 nipples on the new tube...you may have to purchase a longer piece for one of them...do not tighten anything down until you are sure of the fit...Most importantly DO NOT BANG OR DROP THE MAF SENSOR ...good luck...I came back and corrected some of the mistakes Me and my painkillers made (surgery last Thursday, said to take all of them...sssiiuuurreee!!*)
