thinking of swaping my 01 blk s/c for a 2003 Screw white. I find myself not sure what to do. I like the looks of the Screw except that the rear end seems to sit to high. Not sure if ill like white over black and not sure ill like having a shorter box by 1 foot . Man I hate this . My s/c has 20K miles on it 5.4,tow pkg are tonnaue cover,the Screw has 19K cab steps no tonnaue but is in mint condition. They want 6000.00 plus mine. I don't want to make a wrong decision. I don't ride people so I really don't need the added room in the cab but ....oh heck I don't know. Do most people buy the Screw because they have familys or just for looks ...

 

As far as room, the 2004 adds under a half an inch more room to the SC over the old model. The added space is taken up by raking the back of the back seat more. As far as the screw goes, you won't be limited to a smaller bed. The new screw is available with, I believe, 3 lengths of beds to choose from.

I was originally looking at S/c's, and never thought I would like the SCREW, but ended up buying one and have loved every minute of it (had it 1 year in october).

I have a boat, 2 black Labs and drive 7 hours to a deer lease, I also go on mountain bike trips with a couple buddies and have never needed a trailer as of yet.

I do have the bed extender that gives you a little extra bed room. About the only thing is, I cant see putting a tool box in it, cause there would be nothing left hardly.

I can't say if giving $6000 and your truck is a good deal or not, I bought my Gen 3 --2001 SCREW when it was 1 Year old with 16,000 miles and gave $18,500. I have never had any regrets (except maybe wishing I had gotten a 4WD for the deer lease, but I have never been stuck yet)

 

I went from an 01 Scab to an 03 Screw and I dont miss the bed length,I have found that really dont haul anthing long and I can still haul 8' lumber it just sticks out a bit.I also noticed the load hieght is higher than the Scab so I bought a hitch hauler for heavy stuff that is to much to lift into the bed.

 

I went from a '99 SCab to a '01 SCrew. I live on a farm an am hauling/towing stuff all the time. I have yet to miss the extra 12" of bed flooring.

Anything that is too big to fit in the 5.5' bed would also be to big for the 6.5' bed, and so it gets towed in one of my trailers.

If money is not the issue, I would say go for the SCrew. The rear seat room is a fantastic trade for the shorter bed!!!!

My one and only regret is that I really miss having the bed toolbox. I used to keep alot of useful stuff in there, and there is really not room in the shorter bed for a full-sized toolbox. But i have scaled down the stuff I carry with me and stow it elsewhere in the SCrew. Still a good trade-off in my opinion.

Nope. The SuperCrew is still only available with the 5 1/2' bed...

 

The Super Crew is great for families. I have a 9 month old that loves the truck. He can see out the windows!

A child seat doesn't fit (or most do not fit) in the Super cab. The 2003 Crew comes with the LATCH system which makes putting in a car seat very easy.

I have had 5 adults and a car seat in my Super Crew and all were comfortable. Mind you it was only a two hour drive.

I would give you this advice if you have the need for hauling people buy the SuperCrew.

If you rarely drive with more then two people and use the bed alot buy the supercab.

I really went for the SuperCrew because my son was born and I really couldn't bring myself to buy a minivan..... I have always been a truck person.

 

bought my 01 a month ago, went from 91 f350 diesel custom to lariat 4x screw so im pretty happy. just had my 3d child so thats why. dont miss the bed length, i got a sled trailer, everything else i need a bed for fits so far. i think there is more room than any other truck i have been in. { im tall}. cant comment on the deal, but its a nice truck.

Your asking the wrong question in a SuperCrew forum. You probably wont get one person here to say Sc as apposed to SC.
Theres just me and the wife right now, but I wont go to a Sc after my SC. When you need the room, its there, which is probably more often then the need for the box. This coming from a hunter, snowmobiler and horse owner.

Rebell, you make a good point. What you carry will either be 8 feet, or too long for either the SCab or the SCrew.

The problem I had with the SCab is when there are more than two people you end up leaving the truck at home and taking something else. Since I've gotten the Screw we take it 99% of the time.

When I went to get 14 foot lumber for my hay wangon I loaded it on a utility trailer. Come to think of it, I was driving the SCab back then. The best combo of all time is a SCrew with a 2,500# utility trailer.

 

I agree. I have a 6x10 trailer with a single 3500# axle and a 7x18 trailer with dual 3500# axles. This hauls anyting that will not fit in the SCrew's bed.

I have found that most things I would haul in the trailers now, I would also have hauled in the trailers when I had the SCab.

 

Screw is much better balanced... rides down the road much better. Much better.
