Question fog lights

hey all, i'm new to the whole F150 world. just picked me up a 03,
brand new super crew. love it so much. it was my dream ride for a long time running. anyway, glad to be part of the family. got 2 quick questions. i used to have a jeep grand cherokee, and was on a web site that was all jeeps and they said that you can make your fog lights brighter by pulling out the metal light deflector the covers the bulb to disperse the light, hence fog light. well i really don't care for their use, just want to **** off little ricer cars!! is that possible on the super crew as well? if so would love to hear some suggestions, also, where can i get a fuel filter removal tool? auto zone?, sears?. thanks all. Luke

Put in Sylvania Silverstars 9005 in the fogs. Makes a big difference and alot of people hate seeing them in theirr rearview. Also put in 9007's in your headlights...

$20 a piece and autozone has them.

Any 9005 will be an improvement of what you have now, but you may have to modify them. (cut the flange)

Go to Wallmart, $36.00/pair. 9005 for fog 9007 for head. Sylvania Silverstar. To awnser your question, there are plastic tabs on the bulb, easy to trim to fit if ness. In my opinion, they are the best for the money. Very white light. I have read post here stating that they out perform the $80 Piaa's. My fog lights are blinding now, love it. I also wired in a relay, so my fogs come on with my parking lights. With autolamps my fogs would not turn on, unless I turned the switch all the way to on, then pull... screwwwwww that!!!

Hooking up the relay was a piece of cake. Get a relay, some wire, an inline fuse (25amp fuse MAX).
On the passenger side engine compartment right by the headlight bulb, theres a wiring harness going down to the fog light, pull the tabs holding it to the front radiator support. You can access all the wires you need there.
Here is a pin out on how to wire the relay.
Pin 85- This goes to a good ground.
Pin 86- This taps into the parking light wire.
Pin 30- This goes to the positive side of the battery, with the fuse inline.
Pin 87- This taps into the fog light postive wire.

So when the parking lights come on, it triggers the relay, turning on your fog lights. Use good quality relay, wire, and to make it durable, and long lasting... solder all your connections.

If you want your fog lights to come on in any position you chose you don't need any relays or other add ons to make this work. Go to http://www.svtlightnings.com/ , then click on "how to" on the left column, then click of "fog lamp rewire" and follow the instructions there. Its not to hard and works great. I did this about a month ago on my Screw and it worked just like described.

I considered that option on the fog lights, but im lazy... When the headlights are on, I want my fog lights on. With autolamps, and my relay.. its done, and my lazy figers dont have to pull anything.

checked out your trusty steed, WOW! nice shine! also checked out your inputs on meguires and could not agree more. i love the stuff. i personally use the shampoo/conditioner, and the quick detailer or quick wax in between waxing. looks great too. i have the bright red clear coat, so i want that puppy to do more than just 'POP', i want a bang wherever i go!! but i do have a question, about the micro fiber clothes, i've seen them at wally world or hell as you call it!, now i take it that the good ones are at a body shop supply huh? also, this may be a dumb question, but can the truck be wiped down dry with a micro fiber? i live in san diego so we deal with a lot of dust, & ash from the fires is still kicking around. and megiures web site has a free Rx for your finish and they can give a good dyagnostic (sp) as to what you want your ride to look like, me, i want showroom day in and day out!

It sure can... in fact, I don't use cotton terry anymore with the exception of a few select applications. My suggestion on purchasing the towels is to go to www.premiumautocare.com and get the 'PLUSH BLUE MICROFIBER' towels. These are, by far and away, the nicest MF towels that I've ever used and put the ones from Wal-Mart (Wally-Hell) to shame.... plus, they're like 3 times the size of those little ones from WM.

They're pricey. At $13 each, it's tough to fork out the $ for something like that but, to put it into perspective on how much I really like them, I have 3 and just ordered 2 more that should be here today. Give them a whirl... I think you'll be more than pleased.

Also, check out premiumautocare.com for all your goodies for your car. It's an EXCELLENT site!!
