For those who have adjusted the torsion bars?
How many of you had to get an alignment after you were done. It seems that if anyone tracks their turns with any precision have been ok. Any feedback from those of you who have done it would be appreciated. I plan on following daveman's instructional tomorrow.

"Precision" means nothing when changing the lift on your torsion bars. By all means, get it aligned. Mine felt good as well, I also did a pretty good job a matching the amount of turns and such. Got it on the rack and it was off...
Don't forget that you may have to have the camber adjusted as well since you have, in effect, changed the contact pattern of the front tires to ride more on the outer edge. The more you raise, the more the contact pattern is effected.

I did mine when I first bought the truck. 30,000 miles later and my tires are all worn out on the outside, so I cranked them back down to hopefully save some rubber and put some more miles on these badyears. And yes I did get the truck realigned, but it was the free one through a ford dealership, so I guess they did not do it right.
So hopefully when my tax refund comes in, I plan on just putting a 2" front end lift and new tires and another alignment from an alignment shop, not ford.

I did mine when i got my truck, i just replaced my factory tires 5000 miles ago. I never had any issues with alignment..my tires wore pretty evenly, i did rotate every 7K.......

No front end alignment is needed when you crank the bars. The vertical orientation of the tire remains constant throughout the majority of the travel of the front suspension.

The old I-Beam suspension that was in use until the '97 model would be a diferent story. Raising the front of those trucks with a higher spring would change the camber and make the outside of the tire wear more.
I have cranked the bars on my last 2 trucks and my brother's truck as well. Many miles on the tires on all 3 trucks and the wear is even on all.
I have not had an alignment on either of my last 2 trucks (Since May 1999)
Anyone who has uneven wear after cranking the bars would have had uneven wear without cranking. (Prolly running the Wrangler crap that comes on our trucks)
