Need Help Oil Pressure problem????!!!!

Hey Guys,

I have a '01 screw 4.6 with 58,000 miles. The past few mornings I keep having a reoccuring problem. I crank the truck up in the morning and everthing comes up fine. After a couple of seconds the oil pressure gauge drops to 0 and the warning light comes on. I turn the truck off and then on several times and it seems like when the truck gets a little warm everything is fine. It had been doing it in the morning on the inital startup the past several mornings but it did it yesterday when I left work. I freaked out when I pulled out of the parking lot of work and the oil pressure goes dead. I stopped ASAP and did the whole off and on thing several times to get some heat in the engine. Once I did this a few times it was fine. I do not need to lock my engine up but do not know if it is the needle or some electronic problem or I really do not have oil pressure. I do not want to leave it running when it bottoms out. I was going to take it by the dealership today to see if they can figure it out. Does anybody have any ideas? Any help would be greatly appericated.

Sounds like it is the Oil Pressure sender. I had the same problem with my 01'. I would start the truck up in the morning and the oil pressure would read fine then just drop to 0...light would come on. Replaced the sender.......problem went away.

good luck

That is what I thought also. Where is that sender at and how much of a fix is it? Thanks for the reply.

Oil pressure sender is the problem. Part is less than $15, not sure where its at. Takes one of my techs about 20 minutes tops to do one.
