I know they got a black eye from the whole explorer incident a few years ago (I owned an explorer at the time affected by the recall).

Of course, I had never had any problems with the tires (as 99.9% of the owner hadn't) but, as a replacement, I chose the Michelins. I couldn't believe the ride quality improvement. Night and day...
