seat preference
Went and looked at the 04's on a few lots today again. Pesonally I like the look of the sport black/flint captains chairs. I think the shifter in the center console is pretty sharp looking. What do you guys/gals think?
Well, you asked, so here it is. I think the '04 is butt ugly. The gigantic blue oval on the tailgate is tacky, the massive expanse of sheet metal which composes the side panels is bland, the center console shifter is for sport cars or lightnings, not trucks.
The truck's exterior is tacky and tasteless. Very "generic" looking, and the interior is designed to appeal to women and those who never use a truck for a truck.
I wasn't going to say anything......but you asked!

Not to mention Ford cut alot of things off this truck to save a buck. They even used a thinner hood, which my friend says flexes like crazy at highway speed. I think people are buying these for the interiors and they are something different.
Just my 2cents.

I love the new look, I like it so much I bought one
The black with black interior is VERY nice, if I never had to worry about washing the truck or the heat here in Texas I'd have black on black, it just looks really good.
I opted for the Arizona biege with tan leather, link to my gallery in my sig.

I like em...
I like the new look and I especially like the new shifter. I think if it weren't for taking a chance with customers, there would be no progress at all. I think if it was RebelYell's way, trucks would all be jacked up, dirty and ride like a washboard.
LOL Now, that works for me also, but I at least realize that it is NOT what most of the other truck buyers want - they are looking for that blend of comfort, looks and ride quality...

I'm not a fan of the '04's.... thats why I bought one of the last '03's
The look has kind of "grown" on me, but I still like the looks of mine better.
When I was looking around for my truck, I did have a chance to see some of the '04's with the floor shifter. I think it takes up WAY too much space with a flow through console like that (and it does seem like a pretty big console).
But each to their own! We're all the same proud Ford owners in the end

Interesting thread! My wife and I spent all day Saturday test driving the different SuperCabs and SuperCrews. We have a 1999 Lariat F-150 extended cab and thought it was time to replace it (120,000 miles) as well as take advantage of the new Section 179 rules for income taxes. Bottom line is neither one of us likes the new 2004, particularly the Lariat with center console and floor shift. My right calf leans against the hard console and it doesn't feel comfortable. I also didn't like the constant downward pull of the shoulder belt that is attached to the seat back. On our 1999, the belt is anchored to the door post and is adjustable vertically. The 2003 SuperCrew uses the same arrangement as our 99 but the supercab 2003 uses the seat attachment trick. I have owned numerous Ford trucks and have always liked the new designs when they came out (my oldest was a 1967) but, I'm concerned that they may have missed the boat on this one.
