sliding rear window
sliding rear window
Alright maybe this has been covered. Power rear sliding window? Anyone have one and how much are we talking about? It is just too much of a hassel to reach way back and open it.
Using the SEARCH feature at the top yielded these results for "power slider":

I took the stock switch that would've come with the option and did the full install myself. It's not a beast to overcome but, it is a challenge (or at least it was for me). I have the wiring set up, more or less, just like stock in that the window will still open/close with the ignition off but the doors not open (the delayed circuit (#400 I believe)).
I love it and can't imagine not having it now. I use it just about every single day.

I just picked up my 2004 SuperCrew FX4. I was wondering if anyone knows whether the wiring harness for the Power Sliding Rear Window is in the truck already and I could just get the window and the switch, or would I have to install the harness also to upgrade to the Power Slider.
thanks

It's not there. You'll have to add it... (which is pretty easy).
Contact me if you have any additional questions as I did the full install start to finish on my own without the CL Laurence kit.

well unlike RP I "Paid" to have mine installed and love to show it off, LOL once you have it you will really enjoy the use of the power button to open and cloes the window especially if you have a supercrew
Notice I placed the switch just under the AC vent, RP did a better quality finish by placing a factory switch on the left sid of the seering wheel and if you ask nicely he will show you a picture.

I thought about doing this on my Screw but I wasn't sure it was worth the cost, even if I did the install myself. Maybe you guys could educate me but it seemed to me that the purpose of opening the rear slider was to help get good ventilation in the cab. Since in a Screw you can roll down the rear windows to help get good cross ventialtion what advantage is there to opening the rear slider? I must admit in the short time I have had my truck I have not had the slider open while driving. Your sage advice on this would be appreciated.
You haven't opened your slider because of the huge inconvience that it takes to open it. I'm 6'1" and I CANNOT reach my rear glass from the front seat without becoming a contorsionist and loosing focus on the road.
It's WELL worth it.
The ventilation, that you've mentioned, is GREATLY increased (especially if you have a moon roof). It's definately one of my favorite mods.

I use my window the most when the weather is cool, say 50-65 degrees and I can keep the door windows up and still get some ventalation, also with my 2 young children in the back or my wife who does'nt want the wind or noise is when I use it. To me it serves the same as a sun roof because you can ge the air you need without the wind buffering in the cab. Once you have it you will find it comes in handy.
