i love blanket statements...dodge overrates the hemi...ford underrates their engines. bunch of crap!! if the ford 3v 5.4l produced 345 hp....ford would gleefully promote that!!

btw, the only manufacturers i can think of that have been caught overrating their engines are ford, mazda and nissan...hummm!

and if you think the hemi is overrated check out this link...

and i still love my Kranch S-crew so don't get your knickers ina twist...

The hemi's cool but I don't spend a lot of time at 5500rpm's..

Street light to street light and 60 foot times They're pretty close, the ford may actually have it.. Doesn't really matter, you talking about slow and slower.. I've got a GSXR750 to go fast on..

They're both good engines, hell, they're Both Hemi's.. Both very similar Torque. I like the better gas mileage of the ford. You're talking about 20% better gas mileage! Really, it comes down to the chassis and if you can afford the extra bones of the Ford. If you haven't hammered on a new F150 out of the apex of a turn you don't know what we're talking about... It's unbelieveable! The Dodge really doesn't compare in this department.

For me, if you want to compare which of two vehicles is faster, you don't run them straight in a 1/4 mile. You take it to the canyons.. That's where I'd put my money on the Ford..

I don't usually reply to these threads, but I also have recent experience with the Hemi. I have been waffling about ordering a new 2004 FX4, but before I did, I went to both Dodge and Chevy to check out their offerings one more time.

First, no question that Ford makes a better quality truck. But on the way to the Dodge dealer, I met up with a fairly new Toyota Tundra with the V8. I punched my 5.4 SuperCrew to get a jump on him, but he caught and passed me pretty easily. Got to Dodge, and tried the Hemi. No question that the Hemi Quad would trounce my SuperCrew, and it sure felt faster than the new 2004 FX4 with the 5.4 too (personally, the new 5.4 in the SuperCrew feels a lot slower than my 2002 5.4 SuperCrew but, then again, I do have some mods). Then I went and tried a Chevy, and their 5.3 with less ponies made for a more spirited ride than the Fords.

Good thing both the Chevy and Dodge are not as attractive <IMHO> as the Fords, although I could live with the Dodge styling (especially with the Hemi). I just can't stand the new Chevy design at all. Guess I need to wait and hope for a new Ford Supercharged 4x4 to put the issue to rest (outside of Lightnings, SSs, and R/Ts).

Notice in all the spin out he had to turn the well or was in a turn to get it to spin the tires. Hell, my 4x4 SCREW can do that.

The 4x2 Hemi I drove was a crew cab, just like my 4x4 SCREW. Performance was similiar to my SCREW with the mods I have on it. I was expecting performance out of the Hemi more in line with a "Lightning" considering all the hype of the "that things got a hemi in it" commercials.

As far the interior of the Dodges, it is far inferior to the quality of the Fords.
