Question New Rubber for 2001 SCrew

Have 100,000 km/60,000 mi on original rubber (General Grubber A/W P255/70R/16). Do not drive offroad. About 5,000/3000 mi left before wear bar apprears.

Any recommendations would be appreciated (especially from any other SCrew owners in Ontario, Canada).

Thanks

Johnny (Canuck) Kay

I have a 97 F-150 Reg, Cab. 2wd F150 and my wife has 97 4wd Pathfinder. Have dunlop rover LT's on both. Good wet weather traction. excellent tread life (remember to rotate), however the chassis on my wife's nissan really resonates with tire noise.

I just bought a 2K3 SuperCrew XLT 4wd 4.6, and so far the factory rubber (wrangler) is decent. As soon as replacement time rolls around, I will get Dunlop Rover touring LT's. Got one set from Sears and the other from Tire America (same store?). Tire America, offered free rotation and road hazard protection.

I commute with trucks (150mi/day) And do some occaisonal landscaping on weekend. Get to 4 wheel a little bit at landfill and when going to top secret fishing holes. No complaints with either tire off-road. However since I am on the highway a lot, I notice better wet road traction with dunlops. I typically drive trucks ballpark 70+ MPH wet or dry for commuting.

New Shoes

I just replaced 4 Goodyear wranglers with Chaparral /Ap (Cooper Tire Co.)- 265 70 17. Had no love for the goodyears - Slippery tire and poor tread wear. New Chaps seem to run quiet with a fairly agressive tread. Will have to wait and see how the winter performance is.

Good Luck!

I just replace my stock tires with New Goodyear Fortera HL's.....
I can't get over how quiet they are. I like them, I just hope they prove to be worth the extra money I spent......

Michelin LTX M/S is a great tire if you never go off road. I had the Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo last winter which were great. No problems going any speed limit in the snow (in 4 High).

New Rubber for '01 SCrew

JK: First of all, how the heck did you get that many miles on your last set of rubber. You must have soft roads and a light touch. Anyway, I put BFG-AT/KO's on my '01 Screw in the summer of '02. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! Compared to the Wranglers that came with the truck, it's truely night and day. The ONLY bad thing I can say about them is their price. It's almost impossible to find them at discounted prices. That being said, knowing what I know about them now, I'd do it again.
