Level out truck

I'm a new supercrew owner and was wondering what the best way to level out the truck would be?

Level S'crew?

Hi y'all! I have an '02 S'crew 2wd and am trying to settle on one of the following 3: "Daystar" spring spacers (1.5"); 2" replacement front coils; 3.5" spindles w/2" rear blocks. I really don't want "TALL", but would like LEVEL. I think the "spacers" will probably be just about right, but replacement coils may win! I replaced the 255R70X16s w/265R70X16s on stock wheels, so the wheel wells are just a "little fuller". Good luck
PS: should have said it at first, but WELCOME to the site from Canyon Lake!

cakp - we need a little more info. Do you have 4X2 or 4X4?? Do you want to raise the front end up or drop the back end down??

I put 2" drop shackles on mine and it is almost level (about 1/2" off).

I put 265x75x16 Goodyears on my '01 4 x 2 Supercrew, and used the shackles to drop the rear. Truck sets nice and the wheel wells are pretty full.
I used the Belltech 2" shackles from Summit.

I have to ask, why level the truck? My neighbor asked me when I was going to level mine. Is it for appearance only?

Marc,

Are the shackles easy to install yourself? And where can you purchase them?

I used the Belltech shackles from Summit. I believe they were a little over $50.00. I chose them because I live only 12 miles from their Akron store, and did not want to have any shipped from another source. Installation was uneventful if you follow the manufactures instructions. Need a good set of jack stands, or a friend that owns a tire shop.

Does adding drop shackles on the rear affect the ride quality at all?

30-60 minutes to install.
I did the bell tech shackles, check out the yahoo albums th see how perfectly level it sits.

You may develop a harmonic hum after lowering, until the universal joint wears in at the new angle. Usuallt goes away in a week.

I've heard of many who cranked the torsion bars to bring the front up. Dont' know much about it though.
What are the pros and cons of doing this and how do you do it. I heard it was easy. JM2C

I went by a local automotive shop whose long time shop manager is a Ford enthusiast, he started there in the alignment bay. He told me that I could safely raise the front end of my '01 4x4 Screw by giving the torsion bars 2 complete turns each, probably without realignment.

In my garage I measured the distance between the top of the wheel well and the floor before I performed the adjustment, then a day afterwards, giving the front end some time to adjust. Two turns gave me 3/4" of lift. I've never felt the need to have the truck realigned, it seems fine. The ride is slightly harsher, but not enough to even consider turning them back.

That is my experience!

Zach
