Hard Bed Cover???

Help...I'm fixing to buy my first F150 real soon.

1. I want one of those hard covers for the bed that match the paint (black). Do I get that from the dealer or aftermarket? How much are they? Which aftermarket is best? Are they easy to remove and re-install? What are these things actually called?

2. I want one of those thick rubber mats for the bed instead of a bedliner. Same questions: dealer or aftermarket? price?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Charlie

bedmats are available almost everywhere. Dealer, Pep Boys, WalMart, you name it.

Hard covers come in 2 broad types. Fibreglass and non-fibreglass.

The fibreglass ones are made by Leer, ARE and just about anyone that makes caps. Very ridgid. When accompanied by a lock, cargo is very secure and theft proof. Removal is a pain. They are quite heavy.

The non-fibreglass are things like Retrax and the like. They have the advantage of folding up or retracting out of the way for tall loads.
