Hello, New here.

Hey everyone.

I am new to trucks, and I have a few questions.

First off. I am almost sure I will be getting a Ford f150 XLT.

Now, around here I havent seen to many 5.4L V8s, only 4.6L. How much faster is a 5.4L than the 4.6?

Whats the best sounding exhuast for an f150 also? I want somthing that hums, and isnt annoying loud and sounds awesome at high rpms.

Thanks a lot

Welcome!

Are you getting a 4x4 or 4x2? Around here you don't see many 4x4's with a 4.6, most have a 5.4 and they are not overpowered by any means. I would say if you can afford it, go with the biggest. I don't think gas mileage differs much, if at all.

You might want to check out the aftermarket exhaust forum. Seems like the Magnaflow is the popular choice.

Not sure how to answer your questions on the 5.4 vs. the 4.6. I can tell you this, alot of the guys that have a 4.6 have been seen talking about how they wished they had the 5.4. Me, I have the 5.4 with ZERO regrets...oh yeah, and I'm a 4X2

On the exhaust... you're going to get a much better response out of the Exhaust Forum... I just don't know much about it...

Oh yeah... where are my manners?

Drive them both -- see what you think...

I think most people would go with the 5.4L, but it is not a fast truck if that is what you are looking for...

I will be getting a 4x4. I have seen only a few 5.4L's, but not in the color I want.

Tell your dealer what options you want and what color you want and they can locate one exactly like you want. That is what I did and the dealer traded for one that was over 150 miles away. I got what I wanted and he got the sell. If you see one at one lot that you want and you would rather do business with another dealer, then you can have the preferred dealer trade for it.

Do you ride a raptor? Me too. You'll be interested to know that your raptor will fit in the bed of your f150 nicely. I have a SuperCrew, so the tailgate doesn't close, but it still fits. I've also towed 2 quads, and 2 bikes along with gear and 4 people. You'll love your truck.

Welcome to F150online!

First, welcome to F150online Second, you will like the S'crew. I know I like mine (2wd 5.4L Dark Shadow Grey). I am sure the 4.6L is a very good & reliable engine, but most people I've talked with tell me they wished they had gotten the 5.4! A Series 50 Flowmaster (SIDO) turned out infront of the left rear tire sounds pretty good!

Good Luck!

Thanks for the info guys. I will do what you said.

Yes I ride a raptor. I made my raptor really wide, and just fits in at 48 inches wide.
