Question question regarding 03 FX4

I have been hearing some *odd* noises from the frond end lately.
Not really sure as to when they started.

Almost sounds/feels just like 4x4 is engaged. According to dash switch and light it is not, but I know they could be faulty....truck is month old w/3k miles. Stock rims/tires. Torsion bars raised to level---zero mods.

Could be nothing--might just be the way the truck rides/drives--previous was F250 4x4 PSD, before that I had a Z71, so not really accustomed to this one yet.

Sounds like light groaning/very slight rubbing of some sort during slow speed turns.

Is this normal? Anyone else hearing/feeling this?

If 4 wheel drive was ingaged you would know it ... you would not be able to turn easily on drive payment.

I bet its the stock tires. Mine are very knubby, and make alot of noise in low speed turning, etc.

I've never noticed it. Hey, still new right? Pop by the dealer and have 'em check it out. At least you'll have it documented if something were to go wrong down the road...

exactly ^---- theres no way you would not be able to tell if 4x4 was active, it feels pretty odd drving it on dry roads, it may just be your tires like someone else said, then again on my 03 i never noticed that when i first got it, i got mine almost 3 months ago, had 67miles on it, now its got 7,000, better take it in anyway just "in case" wouldnt hurt

Rumor has it there will be a recall regarding loose pitman arm bolts on 03's. I work at a dealer and haven't seen anything come thru about it yet. Not saying this is your problem but it could be a possibility, I'll post more as info becomes avail.

Well, like I said, it feels kinda like its in 4wd--I'm confident its not--but its awfully similar in feeling. I've never owned a vehicle that wasn't 4wd, so I have a fair idea what it feels like on pavement. This is pretty close--kinda like its "catching" or binding when turning into my driveway or into a parking lot. Its not the skipping tire feeing you get in 4wd--but real close to it.

I guess my main concern is that raising the torsion bars could have done it--truck drives straight, doesn't pull either way. Guess it could be the tires.
