Looked At An '04 Up Close
Stopped by Akins Ford last night and they had a two-tone (green/ beige) Lariat '04 SCrew in the parking lot. Wanted to give my opinions on the truck:
1) Love the interior!!! Ford really outdid themselves when designing the insides of this truck. Can't wait to see it in charcoal. Wife pointed out the leather stitching on the dash which looked really good. Chrome (or aluminum) trim rings around the vents add a nice touch. Glad to see the return of the center armrest in the rear seat. Also liked the air vents for the rear.
2) Outside looks a lot like the Superduty - everything is squared off - backend really looks like the Superduty. Not sure I like it. That is one thing that was always appealing to me was the curves of the current F150.
3) DO NOT LIKE the black door handles and big black square mirrors. I thought that was one thing different about the Lariat package was that everything is monotone - not anymore.
4) Front end looks great - kinda massive looking coming towards you - Ford emblem in the grille looks huge!!!
5) Truck looked like it sits lower (4 X 2) than the current F150, even on the 18" wheels.
My final opinion is this - Ford basically took a work truck outside and slapped a Lincoln inside in it. Overall I think I like it, but not enough to trade mine in. Maybe in the next year or two they will come out with a "Sport" or "Limited" edition for the SCrews that will monotone everything and give it a sportier look.

Yeah, that's my opinion too. May just slink around the lots and see if I can steal an 03 at a killer price. Not that I need it, but I do want the 373 ltd rear.

Just ordered my '04 Screw FX4. I agree about the black handles and mirrors. I also didn't care for the big chrome grill on the lariat. I ordered the monotone dark shadow grey with the 18" wheels. I don't think the blacks parts will show as bad. My truck stickers for $39,760.00. They're getting on up there. Can't wait till it gets here though.
