Door Entry Lights??

I just bought a 2001 Screw and have a question. There are lights on each door to light up the entry at night. These lights do not work in my truck and I cannot figure out why. Anyone know why? Thanks for the help in advance.

I was going to ask if you checked to see if the bulbs were burned out.

And while you have the cover off, check it with a volt meter.

On my 2001 XLT, there are bulbs under the cover, I know another member did not have the socket installed on the 2003 as well ( buleIslandScrew ?? ).

Start out checking if there are bulbs ( and sockets ) installed, and if voltage is present at the socket, and if the bulb is good is the place to start.

Sorry if you already did this, your post made no mention of problem diagnoses so far.

Good luck

Steve

Thanks for the replies. I had not checked for bulbs, because all four door lights did not come on. I figured if it was a bulb, then only one or maybe two lights would be out. I did not think about them never being installed. I wonder why they put them there and then dont install bulbs. I did check the fuse box, but the manual made no mention of the door lights, so i could not tell which fuses they were. I was just thinking that they might have been disabled with a switch somehow, and i didnt know how to turn them back on. I guess i will have to look a little deeper.

My '03 SCrew does not have the sockets/wiring harness for the door courtesy lights. It also has only the red reflector lenses instead of the red/white ones that would be there if there were courtesy lights.

I think Ford was trying to get rid of the XL stock that they had left over since a lot of that will probably not be in the '04 model (i.e. new design for wiring harnesses and lenses). I feel cheated

Thanks

Thanks for the help. Believe it or not, it looks like all four bulbs are burnt out. That should be an easy enough fix. I appreciate you guys pointing out the plainly obvious. I needed it.
